Phnom dei KJ Livestock Training Centre
Premium Cambodian Chicken that tastes great and helps those in Poverty
Social Business Farm to End Poverty
Mission & Key Goals
Despite significant economic changes in Cambodia over the past decade, poverty remains high across the country at 27%. Siem Reap Province is the eighth poorest province out of 24 with a poverty rate of 31%. For some dumpsite scavenging has become the only option, but income generation is well below the poverty line and conditions are toxic and dangerous.
Phnom dei KJ Livestock Training Centre is creating sustainable employment through the establishment of our Yunus Social Busines, which follows the 7 Principles of Nobel Peace Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus:
Mission
The Phnom dei K.J. Livestock Training Centre’s mission is to overcome rural poverty by empowering the poor through training and business opportunities in sustainable, commercial Khmer chicken farming.
Key Goal 1
To become Cambodia’s leading Cambodian Local Khmer Chicken Centre, operating as a social business.
Key Goal 2
To provide high quality livestock training to poverty stricken Cambodians so they can create their own businesses rearing chickens to secure the future of their families.
Key Goal 3
Further expansion of activities at the Centre to employ an additional 50 scavengers over the next 3 years
Key Goal 4
Best practice Chicken Farm and Training Centre model that can be replicated in other areas of Cambodia and SE Asia.
